Which Avenger Would Be the Best Date?

Most people toy with the idea of dating a superhero. They think about how marvelous it would be to know that your date can do all of these amazing things, and how cool it would be to get to see them do it. The prestige you would gain from dating a superhero would mean a lot of publicity, but no one stops to think about how difficult dating a superhero would actually be. Keeping all of this in mind, some of the Avengers would logically make better dating material than others. We will discuss here their histories from the comic books, determining if they make good dates or not.

Iron man has loved, and lost, several flames over the years. The stresses of trying to maintain relationships with humans and technology at the same time have driven him to alcoholism. The additional stress of running a multimillion dollar company hasn’t helped. As a date, he would probably be drunk too often and may take his aggressions out on you. He seems to pay more attention to his technology and his work than to his love life, which has gotten him into trouble more than once in the past.

The Hulk has dealt with abuse his entire life. He became withdrawn early on, never having many friends. Before the accident that made him the Hulk, he was intelligent and caring. So long as he could keep the Hulk aspect under control, he would make a good date.

However, when the Hulk is triggered by the slightest rush of adrenaline, all of his humanity vanishes. When in Hulk form, he is naive and child-like. His low intelligence has found him tricked into committing evil more than once. When dealing with him for a possible date, the split personalities between the Hulk and non-Hulk sides would make him more than difficult to deal with romantically.

Thor has spent much of his life overstepping his bounds and being punished for those actions. His constant war with his brother Loki would make him difficult to date, as family matters would constantly get in the way of a relationship. In the past, he has been forbidden to reveal his identity to those he was in a relationship with. The level of secrets he would keep from his date would make him difficult to trust, but his kind and caring nature would make up for a good portion of that.

Captain America doesn’t enjoy being told what to do. He will follow orders to the point that they cross his personal line. He has quit the Avengers more than once over orders that troubled him. His military training is prominent in every decision, but he would ultimately make a loyal and trustworthy date. He has lost many lovers in the past, and has shown that he will choose duty over love. So long as you don’t interfere with his superhero business and what he believes is right, he would be a good date.

Hawkeye is talented, and he knows that he is. He holds no special powers, but keeps up with the Avengers by his talent with a bow alone. The fact that he can do this makes him cocky. He has shown many issues with personal security in the past. Everyone in his life has either abandoned him or died. He is somewhat withdrawn from society because of this fact. He has proven to be a good leader in the past, but has difficulty following orders and seems to be comfortable only when he is in direct control of a situation. As a date, he would probably be rather pushy and me-oriented, insisting on doing what he wanted all the time.

The Black Widow is the only female in this offering of the Avengers team. She started life as an officer for the Russian KGB, but defaulted to the American side later in life. She has used her body more than once to romance her way into getting what she needs, on top of having multiple relationships that have ended badly. She isn’t afraid to romantically manipulate men. This would make her difficult to date, as trust issues would always be in question.

Overall, Captain America would probably be the best of the Avengers to date. His sullied past aside, he would probably be the most caring of all the teammates. His training would see that you always knew where he was and what he was doing, and his strength would give him the best chance of returning home at the end of the day.
